Edge is everywhere! AI, 5G, and IoT technologies are accelerating the Edge era. Edge is the place to converge operation and information data. Edge devices need to be connected by a trusted, reliable and secure network - a Private 5G Network can ensure the right data is shared at the right time for making right decisions and taking the right actions. With AI technology, the data at the edge will be processed in real time and turned into valuable information to support decisions. The major business opportunities of the edge era are Edge Analytics, Edge Visualization and Autonomous Mobility.

IDC predicts that by 2023, 70% of enterprises will run varying levels of analytic and AI models at the Edge. Edge Automation and Edge Analytics applications are driving customer demand for AI@Edge.
These applications cut across the design, distribution, maintenance and fulfillment of physical products and materials, consumer marketing and safety. In Manufacturing, edge automation applications improve workflows for optimizing product designs, identifying and removing defective parts, monitoring part assembly and verification, order fulfillment systems, predictive quality and predictive maintenance. This growing need for analytics-driven, automated quality management process control is driving requirements for (1) predictable performance (latency, model), (2) stability over time and (3) lower cost to scale with less customization (‘plug & play’). During this session, we will discuss trends for lowering the cost to scale by reducing the complexity of developing and running AIML models at the edge.

Over recent years, the art of surgery has been remodeled very rapidly by the outstanding technological developments, particularly those generated by computer and robotic sciences. Modern computers with increasing computational power and endowed with artificial intelligence can work out the “big data” coming from human beings and can analyze patient-specific health fingerprints through the massive acquisition of omics data and all types of imaging. At the IRCAD, we are preparing for this transition, working on the augmented hand, in a human-robot co-manipulation or collaboration workflow; the augmented eye by exploiting the potential of medical imaging; and cognitive technologies (the augmented brain) in order to increase the safety and efficacy profile of surgical procedures.

One of the most challenging topics happening within hospitals and Operating Rooms(OR) is informatics. By providing right information at the right time, based on the best possible availability is key to each success surgery. With that, doctors and surgeons should focus less on technology-based challenges, but rather more on how to minimize risks to patients, procedures, which contributes to overall OR efficiency and process improvements. This is where technology providers like AUO, ADLINK step in and help.
AUO and ADLINK are dedicated to address this “imaging informatics” challenge, to improve the workflow efficiency by providing real-time, accurate visual guidance and minimizing imaging processing time. This brings better Operating Room turnover time, and improved patient experience.
In this session, we will walk through use cases from hospitals and operating rooms, and show how technologies from AUO, ADLINK and medical equipment manufacturers could positively impact our healthcare eco-system.
